His postgraduate training includes his general surgery residency at the University of Illinois and Metropolitan Group Hospitals (1979-1985), as well as his thoracic surgery fellowship at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, IL, and Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago, IL (1985-1987). A Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), Dr. Moreno attained board certification in thoracic surgery with the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. in addition to his work as clinician, he has published results of cardiovascular surgery studies in numerous medical journals and has trained other physicians extensively, particularly in Central and South America and the Caribbean.
